Jim and Frances Hodges have been major supporters of the Bainbridge Public Library from the earliest days. Jim was instrumental in building the original library on Madison in 1961. He assembled the first capital committee and was the chief fund-raiser. He and Frances continued their strong support for many years. They funded the Chldren's Library in the expansion in the early 1980's as a memorial to their only child, Betsy Hodges, who died at an early age of leukemia.
The portrait of Betsy Hodges was donated by Jim and Frances' grandneice, Paige Hodges Stockley.
