Small bronze markers are inlaid in the sidewalk and entryways of the library, to tell a story, give a direction and history to the library of today.  Symbols and simple images are extracted from a time line of libraries from earliest times to Bainbridge Island in the late 20th century, from the oral and pictorial cultures of native Indians to the first memories of sharing books by early Bainbridge settlers.  These bronze images lead to the cornerstone of the new library; created by Molly Greist, the cornerstone is the last piece of the narrative.
