Jordan Harrison, a Bainbridge Island native, is regarded as one of the most exciting new voices in experimental theatre. He has published a number of plays -
Kid-Simple,
Finn in the Underworld,
The Museum Play,
Fit for Feet And Other Short Plays,
Act A Lady,
Amazons and Their Men, and
Doris to Darlene: A Cautionary Valentine. Several of Harrison's plays have premiered at the internationally acclaimed Humana Festival at Actors Theatre of Louisville. Among his recent works,
Doris to Darlene is a story that plays itself out in three intertwined time periods, revolving around Wagner's "Liebestod'. The
New York Times says of
Doris to Darlene: “Mr. Harrison’s play has an affectionate, music-loving heart”. Harrison's most recent work
Futura (2009) deals with the social significance of fonts (yes!) and their impact on the future. Harrison, who now lives in New York, is a 2009 Guggenheim Fellow and a 2009-10 Hodder Fellow at Princeton University. He is also co-editor of the annual
Play: A Journal of Plays. For more information on Harrison's works and the recognitions he has already received please go to
