The acclaimed sculpture/naturalist Tony Angell was commissioned by anonymous donors to create Bay Otters in 1998.  The piece was an instant favorite of both adults and children, and seems to welcome visitors to the library's Haiku Garden.  Angell, a lifelong naturalist, was a wildlife illustrator before becoming a sculptor.  He has been a teacher and has trained hawks and falcons and nursed perhaps 100 injured birds at his home in Seattle and his cottage on Lopez Island.  For more information about him and his art visit www.tonyangell.net
